Relatives allege they are being denied access to CCU of JJ Hospital, say former media honcho should have been admitted to different ward
Mumbai : The relatives of the patients who are currently admitted to the Critical Care Unit (CCU) at JJ Hospital claim that the police officers who are posted for security of Indrani Mukerjea at the CCU are not allowing them to see their kin (patient).
The frustrated family members expressed grief over their inability to see their ailing relatives since Friday afternoon, owing to the VIP treatment and security given to Indrani Mukerjea. They further argues as to why the hospital authorities did not admit Indrani in a different ward knowing that she is a prime suspect of a high-profile case.
Since Friday afternoon, police officers have been manning the CCU ward inside which only police officers, nurses and doctors are allowed. The relatives stated that despite several attempts, the police officers didn’t allow them to see their kin (patient).
If there is any requirement of medicines, then the name of the patient is called, following which a doctor or nurse coordinates with the relative about the medicines to be brought and the patient’s condition.
On the basis of anonymity, a relative of a patient told FPJ: “A relative of mine was admitted this morning [Saturday] and I have not seen him even once since morning as we are not allowed to go inside. No relative is being given access to see patients which is only adding to our worries. We are not asking for permission to visit every now and then, but we should be able to see them at least once to ensure they are okay.”
Meanwhile, another relative said that all the attention and focus was being given to Indrani Mukerjea. “Everyone is so engrossed in providing security to her that they have forgotten that there are other patients also admitted in the same ward. If the hospital knows that she is a VIP then they should have admitted her to a different special ward so that they do not cause convenience to others.”
