Mumbai : Around 200 nurses from Kasturba Hospital complain that hospital authorities are delaying their promotion despite possessing adequate qualification and experience.

Expressing their apathy, they said they are also not being given raise in their salary and travelling expenses as the authorities have failed to maintain records of the leaves taken and over-time duty done by the nurses. They claim that when asked for an answer, the authorities use foul language and avoid talking to them about their problems.

One of the nurses, on the basis of anonymity, said that she has been working in the hospital since 1998 under the Scheduled Tribe category but in 2012, the authorities shifted her to the open category preventing her from availing benefits for ST category.

The nurses said they could not bear the injustice in silence anymore and will voice their problems and demands.

Meanwhile, when asked, the medical superintendent of the hospital Dr Chandrakant Pawar stated that the authorities will look into the matter and will take firm action in a week so that the nurses are not inconvenienced.
