Mumbai: In a fresh development in the legal spat between Bollywood actors Aditya Pancholi and Kangana Ranaut, a Magistrate court has issued summons to the latter and her sister Rangoli Chandel. The court has ordered Ranaut and her sister to appear before it on July 26.

The court issues the summons while dealing with the defamation suit filed by Aditya Pancholi and his wife Zarina Wahab. The Pancholis had filed the suit in December 2017 after the Queen fame actress, Ranaut had made some startling allegations against them in an interview given to a popular TV channel.

In her interview, Ranaut had accused Pancholi of physically and mentally harassing and assaulting her, during their short-lived affair. According to advocate Shreya Shrivastava, Kangana had accused Pancholi of keeping her under house arrest. "The actress has claimed that she was under house arrest and that she had registered a First Information Report (FIR) against my clients. But actually, there was no such FIR and this makes a prima facie case against her for defaming my clients," Shrivastava said.

As far as Ranaut's sister and spokesperson Rangoli is concerned, she has been dragged to the court for making wild allegations against Pancholi and his wife through social media. Even she had claimed that an FIR was registered against Pancholi in 2005-2006.

Having considered the contentions of the Pancholi family, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S B Dighe issued two summons each against Ranaut and Rangoli with regard to the four cases filed by Pancholi and his wife Zarina. The matter is posted for further hearing on July 26.
