Kalyan: Bhiwandi Police arrest man for kidnapping toddler

Kalyan: Bhiwandi Bhoiwada Police have arrested a 45-year-old man, who had kidnapped a three-year-old girl from Bhiwandi. Cops laid a trap for the the kidnapper, with the help of his mobile network location when he was in Badlapur on Thursday morning. The rescued child was reunited with her parents after 24 hours. The arrested accused has been identified as Abdul Kalam Choudhary, a resident of Walvi village in Badlapur, who worked as a construction labourer. A police officer privy to the case said Choudhary had been keeping track of the minor. He had been keeping tabs on the girl’s family and kidnapped to take revenge. “Choudhary was a neighbour of the girl’s family.

They had a falling out and when the family moved to Badlapur, Choudhary seized the opportunity to kidnap the toddler when she was alone.’ Senior Inspector Kalyan Karpe Bhoiwada police station said, “Choudhary confessed to the crime and revealed he had done this in an attempt to seek revenge on the family. The reason for kidnapping the toddler was due to an personal old rivalry with the family, when they lived in the same locality. To teach the toddler’s father a lesson, Choudhary kidnapped her.” On May 8, Choudhary lured the child with a fried egg, when she was playing near her house. When she approached him for the snack, he abducted her. After realising the toddler had been missing for over an hour, her family frantically began searching for her. A few hours later, they received a call on one of the parents’ cell phone. The caller threatened to kill the child. Interestingly, no demand for a ransom was made.

The family immediately approached Bhoiwada Bhiwandi police station and booked a case. Bhoiwada Police booked a case against an unidentified man under the various sections of Indian Penal Code for punishment for kidnapping (363), for kidnapping or abducting in order to murder (364) and person who kidnaps any minor or, not being the lawful guardian of a minor, obtains the custody of the minor, in order that such minor may be employed or used for the purpose of begging (363A).
