Mumbai : A 26-year-old man has thrashed his ex-girlfriend and threatened to throw acid on her face. The victim has alleged that she left him as he was not ready to give up his habit of taking drugs. The police have registered an FIR against the accused, who is still absconding.
The accused has been identified as Joshua Alvaris, who is a neighbour of the victim, Alisha Alan Corriea (22). After dating each other for two years, they parted ways last year. Alisha has said that she left Joshua as he was not ready to give up his habit of drinking alcohol and taking drugs.
The incident occurred on September 13 when Corriea was returning home with her friends. When she reached the doorstep of her house, Alvaris entered the scene, pulled her hair and took her inside his house. The accused took Corriea to his bedroom and, after locking the door from inside, beat her up. After hearing her screams, neighbours gathered around and informed the victim’s father, who immediately rushed to her rescue.
Corriea’s father, after rescuing her, immediately took her to the Malvani police station to file a complaint. But, the police took their time in filing the complaint. If the Malvani police had completed the procedure in a timely manner, the accused would have been nabbed.
The victim was then sent for a medical checkup to Charkop.
According to Corriea, Alvaris had met her the very next day near her house and threatened to throw acid on her face. “I have met the DCP and have informed him that Joshua has threatened to throw acid on me. I have stopped going out of my house,” Corriea said.
