Mumbai: The DB Marg police are on the lookout for a 21-year-old man accused of raping a woman. They met through a social media app. When the accused learnt about the lady getting married, in a fit of rage, he sent her obscene videos to her fiance. The accused has been identified as Vinit Pandey, based in Kolkata. DB Marg police have sent a team to Kolkata to nab him. The complaint stated she met Pandey through a social media app last year. Over time, their friendship transformed into fondness for each other. The accused came to Mumbai twice and raped her twice in posh hotels. She stated during their video conversations, the accused even forced her to perform intimate acts, which he had recorded without her knowledge.
Recently, her marriage was fixed by her parents, when Pandey learnt about it, he asked her for her fiance’s number. Unaware of his intentions, the woman parted with it. She realised her mistake only after Pandey sent her obscene videos to her fiance. After knowing about the developments, the victim and her family went to the DB Marg police station and registered an FIR against Pandey. “We have registered an FIR under relevant IPC sections rape (376), defamation (500), intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace (504), criminal intimidation (506) and sections of IT Act.” said an officer.
