Palghar : Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Jan Dhan Yojna has turned out to be a fly-by-night money minting scheme for a few who under the pretext of filling bank forms charged the applicants anywhere between Rs 300 to 500.
This incident had come to shore in slums of Nalasopara east wherein an alert applicant sensing some fraud approached the Nalasopara police station along with others and helped the police nab these fraudsters.
The local party members of a political party learnt about the incident and rushed to the spot only to find this scam being operated in broad day-light where couple of people were charging money just to fill a bank application form.
One of the party workers said, “This scheme is totally free and no one should demand money to fill in the form.

These crooks had put up banner which termed them as a franchise working with Zero Micro Finance Company and savings support foundation which is tied up with SBI but when we demanded to show them their authority letter they failed to do so and we complained to the police”.
Rajesh Pal, one of the many victims said, “I paid Rs 500 to open an account under Jan Dhan Yojna and found that they were misleading me and suspected that this may be a scam and alerted others.”
Officials at the Nalasopara police station said that they have registered the case under section 420(cheating), 34(common intent) of the IPC and further investigations are on.
