Mumbai : SARAL (Systematic Administrative Report for Achieving Learning), a mass database programme for storing information of school students that was meant to help the educational institutions and make job of the teaching faculty easier, is proving to be a technical trouble.
SARAL, a state government project collapsed last week. Several teachers had already complained that the central server is either very slow or not working. Consequently, they were unable to feed the data in the system.
Four years ago, the state government had proposed to create a data base of all students to make the decision making process faster, smoother and effective. However, the project was started this year.
Under the project, teachers were entrusted to collect the details of students and their parents like their contact numbers, bank account and income tax details in regards to consider them for the scholarships. Besides students, teachers and headmaster have to fill their details, too.
Legislator Ramnath Mote intervened in the matter and brought the server problem to the notice of the state government. School Education Principal Secretary Nand Kumar assured the legislator that server of the SARAL system will be repaired and restored.
