Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay to train Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation engineers

Mumbai: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, with the help of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, will soon conduct a training programme for the engineers of Roads and Traffic Department to give them an understanding of quality construction of roads.

A proposal for this will be tabled in the standing committee meeting on Monday. The BMC will spend Rs 9.49 lakh for the training. IIT Bombay has been selected without floating any tender. According to the provisions stated in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Act 1888 (BMC), a tender has to be floated for any proposal which costs above Rs three lakh, but IIT Bombay have been selected as its a reputed and govt institution.
