Mumbai : The Annual Science and Technology Festival of Indian Institute of Technology Techfest had a footfall of total 1, 65,000 people from different parts of the country and beyond the world.
The main highlights of the third and final day of the festival were lectures by eminent personalities such as Eric Klinker, President and CEO, BitTorrents; Nick Powell, Director National Film and Television School; Shai Reshef, President and Founder, University Of The People, a tuition -free Online University.
Klinker, while addressing the gathering of mainly youngsters, said: “Our mission is that, the Internet should be people powered and not regulated by some authority, we want to solve the issues the current generation is facing and I am hopeful that this generation will look at this problem and embrace it as theirs.
Reshef said that higher education is a right and not privilege. “The Indian govt invests billions in education but they are far from meeting the demands. Online education needs minimal investment. Universities, politicians and bureaucrats should come together to promite online education,” he added.
