Mumbai : A 40-year-old housewife was raped by an unknown man who approached the victim to help her in finding a maid. The Gamdevi police officials said that the incident occurred on November 19, but the victim approached the cops on Monday as she was confused about the jurisdiction, police said.

According to the police, the victim, a resident of Sion Koliwada area, was looking for a maid due to which she got in touch with the accused over the phone, three days prior to the incident. The police said that the victim is involved in network marketing and sells products to people.
On November 16, the accused got in touch with the victim saying that he wanted to buy products and will also help her in finding a maid.
The accused on November 19, called the victim on her phone asking her if she could meet him near Mahalakshmi Temple.
The accused took the victim to a restaurant under the pretext of discussing her requirements and allegedly spiked her drink. After a few minutes the victim was not able to stand on her feet after which the accused took her to a nearby hotel, where he allegedly raped her.
API Sunil Kamble, of Gamdevi police station said, “The victim approached us on Monday and based on her complaint a case of rape was registered against an unknown person. We have prepared the sketch of the accused on the basis of description given by the victim.”
The police said the victim’s drink was spiked due to which she was unconscious for three days and later when she explained her ordeal to her husband they decided to register a complaint.
A case under section 376 (rape) of IPC has been registered at the Gamdevi police station. Further probe is on.
