HSC results to be declared today at 1 pm; check at mahresult.nic.in

Mumbai: Over 3.35 lakh students of the city and 14 lakh of the state await results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) board Class XII exams, which will be declared at 1 pm on Tuesday. Results of the exams conducted by private boards, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC), were declared earlier this month. Students can check results on their BSNL mobile phones via SMS by typing MHHSC and sending it to 57766. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) will announce the results online, at mahresult.nic.in. Students are quite anxious about their scores as their friends from private boards have secured higher marks. Juhi Chatterjee, a student, said, “We hope we score a high percentage as competition is increasing every year. A large number of students from private boards have scored above 95 per cent this year, so we hope to give them healthy competition for higher studies.”

There is immense competition for admission to undergraduate (UG) degree courses because of these high scores, claimed students. Student Hatim Khan said, “The cut-off for professional courses increases due to higher scores, especially in reputed colleges, as the seats are filled immediately. If we want these courses, then we have to score higher.” HSC board examinations were conducted from February 21 to March 20 and officials said they wanted to announce the results within a deadline. A senior MSBSHSE officer of the Mumbai division said, “We want to announce the results on time so that students get sufficient time to apply for UG courses and complete the admission process for higher education.”
