Thane: In another hit-and-run case, two helmetless bikers lost their lives when an unidentifed truck hit their twowheeler at Shahpur taluka of Thane district on Thursday night. According to the police, the deceased, Milind Venkhede (36) and Sachin Dalvi (33), were residents of Beturkarpada in Kalyan. Sudhish Kambali, a constable of Vashind police station, said, “They were returning from their relative’s home in Shahpur at 10.30pm when their bike skidded near Khativli village after being hit by an unidentified truck from the rear.”
Police said Milind’s head and Sachin’s abdomen came under the deadly wheels of the truck. The two men died on the spot. Vashind police took them to Shahpur primary health centre for the autopsy. Their bodies were handed over to their families for the last rites. Vashind police said a case was registered against unidentified person under Sections 304(A), 337 and 338 of the Indian Penal Code and 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act. Police said, “We are trying to collect the CCTV footage from the nearby highway.”
