Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is said to install high security nameplates in the metro cities of the State. State transport minister Sachin Ahir said, “15 buses will be installed with these high security name plates.”

“This will help us in tracking the buses and helping us know the if the bus is on schedule or not,” he added.

In addition this system will inform the monitoring room if a bus part or diesel has been stolen from a particular bus. The nameplates will be fitted with a chip in the name plates where the destination of the buses are given. MSRTC managing director, Deepak Kapoor said, “It help us to cut down on a lot of losses we face as bus parts and diesel are stolen at ST stands.” “We have also told the drivers an conductors to stay alert but the system will hopefully help us in figuring out when incidents occur,” he added. The MSRTC will be seeing how operational the pilot project will be as it is one of its kind.
