Seven girls including two minors rescued; 3 pimps held under PITA
Bhayandar : A high profile sex racket has been busted by the Anti-Human Trafficking Wing of the Thane (Rural) police in Bhayandar on Saturday evening. While seven girls, including two minors have been rescued, three pimps including a woman have been arrested and charged under relevant Sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
The accused have been identified as- Sandip Shirishkaralias Sandy (25), Anil Sharma (30) and Megha Kandane (24). Interestingly, Sandy, who is believed to be the kingpin of the sex racket, operates a mehandi and tatoo making kiosk at a reputed shopping mall in Bhayandar (West).
Acting on an information, a police team led by API Atul Aher established contact and struck a deal with the pimps through a decoy customer, following which a trap was laid at Golden Nest Circle on Saturday evening. “We planted a decoy customer, who was told by the accused that he would have to pay Rs 1 lakh for seven young girls. Our decoy agreed to the deal and asked for the girls. Subsequently, a trap was laid and the accused were caught red handed,” confirmed Aher.
The rescued girls will be sent to the rehabilitation centre, the police said. Further investigations are on.
