Mumbai: Thousands of passengers travelling in nearly 20 long-distance trains, who were stuck at various locations owing to the rains in Mumbai, are being provided with food and water packets thanks to Central Railway (CR).
The passengers of these trains, which were stuck for hours on end after their trains were already running late, were further stranded due to water-logging. These trains, which still have over 200 passengers on board, have been assigned stoppage points at Thane and Kalyan.
After giving these train specific stoppages, CR officials, in coordination with NGOs, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the BMC’s Disaster Management Cell, will be visiting these trains to distribute food packages along with water and medicines.
