Mumbai: The winner of the television show Big Boss 11 and star of the popular serial, “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain”, actor Shilpa Shinde opened her political innings by joining the Indian National Congress party on Tuesday. Shinde wants Rahul Gandhi to be the Prime Minister of India.  “There is a need for change and only the Congress can provide this change,” said Shinde at a press conference at the Congress office. She also expressed a desire to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

According to sources, Shilpa may contest from North Mumbai. However, the actress hasn’t confirmed anything yet. In the past, Shinde had received supported from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), when she had accused the producer of ‘Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain’ of mental torture.

On Tuesday, however, she claimed she only received partial help and that the MNS failed to follow up on the issue. “No one has supported me the way Congress has,” she said.  Shinde was inducted in the party in presence of Sanjay Nirupam, the president of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee and Charan Singh Sapra, the party spokesperson.
