Mumbai: The girl students have outperformed their male counterparts in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 examinations, this year again. About 92.45 per cent of girls cleared the exams as compared to 90.14 per cent boys as per the CBSE results declared on Monday. Thirteen students have secured the first rank with 499 marks out of total 500. Of them, eight — Siddhant Pengoriya, Divyansh Wadhwa, Yogesh Gupta, Ankur Mishra, Vatsal Varshney, Ish Madan, Apoorva Jain and Shivani Lath are from Uttar Pradesh; Divjot Jaggi from Haryana, Manya from Punjab, Aryan Jha from Gujarat, Taru Jain from Rajasthan, and Bhavana Sivadas from Kerala. All of them have shared the No-1 rank at the national level and scored the same marks.
As many as 57,256 students have crossed 95 per cent while more than 2.25 lakh students have scored above 90 per cent. Commenting on the pass percentage, Kalpana Dwivedi, Principal of St Joseph’s High School, New Panvel, said, “The students have performed well and scored high. A majority of our students have got above 90 per cent. It is good to witness a large number of students scoring 100 per cent in subjects like Maths, Science, Social Studies, Sanskrit and Hindi.”
This year, over 17.61 lakh students appeared in the examination. Of them, 16.04 lakh passed. The exams were conducted from February 15 to April 4 at 4,974 centres. The students from Trivandrum and Chennai have topped the list with a high pass percentage and overall good performance. Also, this year’s pass percentage is 91.10, up 4.40 per cent compared to 86.70 per cent last year. Three students from Mumbai have shared the third rank at the national level and scored 497 marks.
