Mumbai : The Universal Mill near Ghatkopar railway station caught fire on Saturday early morning causing huge property losses. Also, one fireman was injured and admitted to nearby Sarvoday hospital. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The incident took place on Saturday around 5.30am. Universal Mill is a garment mill and as Diwali festival is approaching, the godown of the mill was filled with garments. The security called the fire brigade and 12 fire engines and four water tanks were rushed to the spot. The blaze spread the smoke all over nearby areas including residential complexes, central government quarters, Sarvoday hospital and some slums.
It took the firemen around three hours to extinguish the fire.
