Mumbai: With Ganesh Chaturthi drawing close, mandals have glad tidings. The umbrella body of all Ganesh mandals has successfully acquired permission for devotees to use loudspeakers until midnight for four days. These four days will be September 14, September 17, September 22 and September 23. Ganeshotsav will be celebrated from September 13 to September 23.
The decision was taken by Mumbai Police at a meeting with the Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvay Samiti on Monday. However, the mandals have to keep a check on their decibel levels. During daytime, the decibel level should not exceed 55db, while at night, it should not exceed 45db. The mandals will also have to seek permission for the same. Moreover, there will be a single-window system to give loudspeaker permissions. Meanwhile, on the security front, each mandal has to deploy 10 members to safeguard devotees.
