Mumbai : The Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation on Tuesday honoured three Indians and one Japanese on the occasion of 38th Jamnalal Bajaj Awards. The four awardees were felicitated by renowned historian, biographer and peace builder, Prof Rajmohan Gandhi, in the presence of Rahul Bajaj Chairman (Board of Trustees) and Justice (Rtd) CS Dharmadhikari, Chairman, Council of Advisors of the Foundation.
“They are the followers of [Mahatma] Gandhi. They don’t want recognition but they deserve it. I am glad today that their efforts are recognised on this wonderful day,” said Prof Gandhi.
The Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation awards continues to serve the ideas to which Jamnalal Bajaj had dedicated his life and promotes constructive Gandhian endeavours, in which he deeply believed throughout his lifetime.
Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Bajaj said: “Awards are institutionalised to recognise and honour real-life heroes who have committed their lives to embracing Gandhian values. It is a fulfilling moment for us to be graced by the presence of respected historian and peace builder Rajmohan Gandhi.”
Man Singh Rawat, Sarvodaya Sevak, who hails from Uttarakhand, was awarded for Outstanding Contribution in the Field of Constructive Work. P Vivekanandan, founder of Sustainable Agriculture & Envinormental Voluntary Action, from Tamil Nadu was awarded for Application of Science and Technology for Rural Development.
Anne Ferrer, founder of Rural Development Trust, Andhra Pradesh, was awarded for Development and Welfare of Women and Children. Dr Minoru Kasai Prof Emeritus, International Christain University, Japan, was awarded for International Award for Promoting Gandhian Values outside India.
