Gadkari, Munde in first list

Mumbai : The important first-timer in the BJP first list for the Lok Sabha elections is the former national president of the party, Nitin Gadkari who will contest from Nagpur. Gadkari has been a member of the Legislative Council and now will face elections for the first time against the AAP activist who exposed Gadkari in two alleged scams and has promised to expose five more incidents against the BJP leader.

A formidable BJP candidate against Praful Patel in Gondiya is an independent legislator Nana Patole. Hi first LS elections, Patole will contest on a BJP ticket, a decision that the party thinks will land the former aviation minister in a tight spot. An expected repeat for BJP is the formidable leader Gopinath Munde, who has been given the responsibility to manage the party’s elections at the state level. Actor and theatre personality Nandu Madhva from AAP will contest from Beed, against Munde. Among the 17 candidates from Maharashtra in the first list, the party decided to field Kirit Somaiah from Mumbai North-East instead of Poonam Mahajan, daughter of BJP’s late leader Pramod Mahajan, who was vying for the seat.
