According to police, no civilian is allowed to use the technology, as a user can easily intercept police control room messages, which is a major security concern

Mumbai: The Oshiwara police on Thursday detained a man for installing a walkie-talkie system in his car and roaming around with it. The person has been identified as Neeraj and he was detained from the high-profile Lokhandwala area.

The Oshiwara police are questioning Neeraj and if he fails to produce the licence for using the gadget, he may be booked under the Official Secrets Act. According to the police, Neeraj was detained after they received a tip off from their sources and then they tracked him down. When the police inquired about him, he claimed to be working in a serial, but failed to produce any documents.

According to police, no civilian is allowed to use the technology, as a user can easily intercept police control room messages, which is a major security concern.

If the license is found, the police will check whether the use of the gadget was used during the shoot or elsewhere. The police may take stringent action against him.

According to an officer from Oshiwara police station the detainee can be booked under several sections. “We have not recovered any license from him, nor has he been able to any legal documentation regarding the walkie-talkie. If he fails to produce any proof, we can book under Official Secret Act as it is the matter of national security,” an officer from Oshiwara police station.
