Mumbai: A 65-year-old man and retired Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officer was booked for threatening and assaulting a 27-year-old woman who was feeding a stray pup. The woman in the complaint claimed that the senior citizen had outraged her modesty by touching her inappropriately.

The Mahim police have registered a case as per the statement of the victim. Mahim police officials said that the woman and the retired officer are neighbours and know each other. The woman claimed that the accused had problems with her over petty issues.

"On Tuesday, she was feeding a pup, when the accused came and started abusing her. She told him that the pup was vaccinated and disease-free, but he kept abusing her. So, the victim took a video of him which saw the senior citizen assault her. The woman claims she was touched inappropriately," said a police officer.

Vilas Shinde, senior police inspector, Mahim police station confirmed that a case had been registered as per the statement given by the woman and investigation is going on.

The Mahim police are scrutinizing the CCTV footage from the society to check the authenticity of the claims. The accused has claimed that he just hit on her hand as she was capturing a video.
