Mumbai :  Central Railway will be running 27 extra services to facilitate the movement of passengers after they decided to stop all operations post 10:30 pm on Saturday till early Sunday.

CR will be conducting the test charging of the current in the overhead wires after converting it from Direct Current (DC) to Alternate Current (AC) from Saturday night till early Sunday morning. During the test they will also run different types of locomotive engine along with the suburban local.

The conversion from DC to AC has already been completed from Karjat till Thane. Now the CR is conducting test for the second phase that will cover the remaining section – Thane to CST.

Along with the extra services run by the CR, the BEST will also be running 10 additional buses for the commuters.


In order to cater to the commuters during the festival season following the withdrawal of the flights by Spice Jet, Central Railway will be running premium trains for Pune-Madgaon and Chennai.

Two special trains, one each, will run for Pune-Madgaon and LTT-Chennai. A special premium train for Chennai will depart from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) at 5:25 pm on December 20 and is expected to reach Chennai at 5:05 pm the next day.

Similarly, a special Pune-Madgaon premium train will depart from Pune at 12:25 am and reach Madgaon at 1:25 pm on December 21. On the same day the train will depart from Madgaon at 4:30 pm and will reach Pune at 5:50 am the next day.
