Cops had formed 10 teams who meticulously coordinated which each other and spread till Borivali, patiently waiting for the killer to fall in their trap

Palghar : Nallasopara cops formed 10 teams and worked on a meticulously planned operation which helped them nab the killer of a 4-month-pregnant woman, from Dahisar west within 6 hours. Sources confirm that the cops arrested the accused red-handed while he was picking up the ransom amount he had demanded against the release of the 2-year-old toddler. This accused had killed Gatakidevi, 25 years, who was 4-months pregnant and also kidnapped her 2-year-old toddler for a ransom of Rs 1.5 lakh.

Once the cops reached the crime scene on Thursday evening they sensed the sensitivity of the issue and immediately dispatched teams to respective destinations to work on the clues they had. They were closely following the directions of the killer, who had demanded Rs 1.5 lakh to release the victims’ kidnapped toddler. To avoid any suspicion of cops’ involvement in this tracing, the cops didn’t call the victim’s husband, Ambalal Dewasi, to the police station. They made him follow the direction given by accused to make sure that the accused didn’t panic which could have further endangered the toddler’s life. One team was specifically dedicated to follow Ambalal just to make sure that he himself didn’t invite any harm. Finally when Ambalal was told to drop the cash near a parked bus in Dahisar west station premises, did the cops lay the trap. They caught him red-handed around 12:30 midnight and immediately rescued the toddler and took him to safety.

It wasn’t an easy task for the Palghar police as the accused had changed the location around 10 times, to drop the cash, and the cops had to accordingly change their plans and accordingly called the other teams for a back-up. Even after dropping the cash, the killer didn’t appear for about 15 to 20 minutes and picked up the cash only when he was sure that he wasn’t followed.

Sources confirm that the arrested accused had accompanied the vendor, who used to supply material required for imitation jewellery, at Dewasi’s house on a couple of occasions. On Thursday evening he entered Dewasi’s Nallasopara west house with criminal intentions. The accused has been arrested under section 302 and other sections related to kidnapping. Further sections would be added once the postmortem report is received as the victim’s dead body was found in semi- nude state.
