Mumbai: Countering Congress, Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) charge that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had used Enforcement Directorate (ED) to pressurise Shiv Sena to agree for pre-poll alliance, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that for them ED meant “Efficient Development”.
Addressing the media at the Sahyadri guest house on Sunday, Fadnavis remarked that the Opposition is yet to decide on seat sharing and we even though had started talks much later than them, we have sealed our pre-poll alliance. Pointing out to senior Sena ministers Subhash Desai and Diwakar Raote seated beside him on the dais, he added that the Sena is with the BJP and together counter the Opposition with combined strength.
Replying to queries over the Republican Party of India leader and Union Minister for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale expressing resentment over not being taken into consideration in seat sharing talks, the CM said that the BJP allies Rashtriya Samaj Paksh (RSP) of Mahadev Jankar, Athawale, Sadabhau Khot are meeting on Monday at Jankar’s residence for talks.
Fadnavis stated that the Sena-BJP will, after talking to their respective allies, allocate two Lok Sabha seats each to their allies. When asked to comment upon the attack of Kashmiri students in Yavatmal district last week, Fadnavis said that the Director General of Police and administration have been given instructions to take adequate steps to ensure protection to Kashmiri students studying in the state.
