Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis along with the officials of various departments, in a video conference with sarpanch of drought-affected villages, took the feed back on Monday.
He has asked all the officials to begin drought relief and water distribution work on immediate basis. After getting feedback from many village heads, Fadnavis has issued directions to the administration saying, a village which may have a river but has dried, the machinery should provide water tankers immediately to such villages.
Fadnavis asked the village heads to coordinate with the tehsildars in their districts over WhatsApp and share the complaints from people to take steps immediately.
They have been asked to set up fodder camps, ensure tankers are deployed and repair work for water schemes should be given priority. “If there is a demand for water tankers, the request will be sent to the tehsildars who should conduct survey immediately before it is being sanctioned,” said the directive.
Fadnavis asked the district officials to submit a report on the villages which do not have taps and water supply. Government schemes should also be implemented in these affected districts on urgent basis. There also should be uninterrupted power for water supply. However, water pumps should not be allowed for any other purpose except for drinking water. The village heads have been asked to send reports on their long term measures.
