A 40-year-old man was arrested by the Dombivli police for sodomizing a 15-year-old boy. The accused recently kept the minor at his house for two days and gave injuries on his body with cigarette butts. The accused was commiting the crime from last one year.
The police said the 40-year-old arrested accused is identified as Suraj alias Sadashiv Saavare. Recently the victim boy didn't return home for two days. The minor's mother kept searching for him in and around the area. On May 27, Thursday, the boy returned to home. "Mother found his son silent and suspicious. Gaining trust she questioned him to find a shocking incident of sexual assault on his son. The boy allegedly revealed that the accused is a resident of Dombivli East. Since, last one year Saavare was taking the minor to his house for some or the other reason. He used to sodomize him, threatening to not reveal it to any one. This time he kept him for two days and threatened to give him injuries with cigarette butts on his body," said a police officer.
The police said when the victim's mother went to question the accused about the assault, "Saavare assaulted the victim's mother, instead of apologizing for the assault. The victim approached the police on May 27 and registered a case," added the police officer.
The Dombivli police have registered a case against the accused under section of the Indian penal code and sections of the Protection of Children from sexual offence act, 2012. "We have registered a case and have arrested the accused on May 28. The accused was produced in court and remanded in police custody till June 1," said Shamsher Tadvi, police inspector, crime, Dombivli police station.
The victims as well as the accused were taken for medical treatment. However, the police have further started gathering evidence by taking statements from the victim and other witnesses.
