Disruptions result in delay on Central and Western Railway

Mumbai : Commuters had a tough time on Friday after a technical problem developed in trains both on Central as well as Western Railway during the evening peak hours. The down slow lines of both the railways were blocked with after a technical snag in the motor coach of the local trains.

On Central Railway (CR), the Kalyan bound down local came to a standstill between Byculla and Currey Road. The train was stuck on the down slow line for an hour as the some technical problem developed into the motor coach of the trains.

The commuters had to walk on the tracks to reach the nearest local station to carry with their journey. An official from CR said, “It took the officials some time as the engine had to be bought to the location to tow the train to the car shed.

The train was then cancelled and taken to the Kalwa car shed were it belonged.” The coach that developed the problem belonged to the BHEL. As many as 10 trains had to be cancelled between 3:50 pm and 4:50 pm until the problem was resolved.

Chief PRO of CR, Narendra Patil said, “The train was stuck on the tracks for an hour until it was cleared. The trains in the mean while were diverted on the fast track.” Services were seen running late later during the night as well.

Whereas on Western Railway (WR), several locals were piled up on the down slow line after a train developed a technical problem and was stuck at grant road station.

Due to this the departing from Churchgate were stuck between Churchgate and Grant Road. Chief PRO of WR, Sharat Chandrayan said, “There was some problem in the braking system of the trains due to which it was stuck. The train was towed to the car shed and the down line was cleared eventually.”
