The passengers agitated at Panvel and Nerul to showcase their anger and distress caused to them owing to the irregular train services

Mumbai : The ordeal of Harbour line services seems to have no end following the back-to-back disruptions in train services. A point failure between Vashi and Nerul at 7.50 am on Tuesday morning led to agitation of commuters at Vashi and Panvel. Though the services were restored by 9 am but the services were still running late by 15-20 minutes which added worries to the already existing woes of the commuters.

Following this, services were disrupted for nearly two hours due to point damage, point rod and tongue rail bend at Vashi which led to cancellation of 23 services. It took nearly two hours for the railways to restore and resume the services which irked the passengers and especially office-goers who have been facing the brunt of the irregular services at Harbour line for the past week.

The passengers agitated at Panvel from 9.10 am to 9.35 am and at Nerul from 9.45 am to 9.55 am to showcase their anger and distress caused to them owing to the irregular train services. Amol Mittal, a commuter at Panvel, said, “Railway officials are thinking this as a cake-walk wherein we are the only sufferers at the end of the day who have to face the brunt. Every other day, there is rail or point failure and we are reaching our destinations late by half an hour. It’s high time that the railways wake up from their sleep and come out with their solutions for our never-ending problems.”

For the restoration of services, engineering staff rushed to the site and repaired the track and at 9 am, the track safe was given and from 9.11 am the services were resumed.

During this period, suburban services were running between CST and Vashi and Panvel and Nerul and further, passengers were permitted to travel via Trans-Harbour line.
