Mumbai : A city-based organisation had shot off a letter to the civic body and the Chief Minister’s Office on August 6 complaining about debris from a parapet wall of Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow in Bandra, which has collapsed recently, being strewn on the street adjacent to it and which may cause inconvenience to pedestrians.
Godfrey Pimenta, a trustee of Watchdog Foundation, had pointed out that this street is one of the shortest routes to Mount Mary Church and the debris lying on the road (in pic) are obstructing the way of pedestrians and vehicular traffic. Yet, nothing has been done about it.
He said, “It’s not like nobody would have noticed it. It is lying right outside Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow and his guards sit right around the corner of that road. Also, with Bandra Fair being celebrated during the first week of September, it may inconvenience devotees too.”
The complaint reads, “We hereby demand that the H/West Ward office immediately take action against Shah Rukh Khan for letting the debris on the road lie unattended and remove it at the earliest.”
Taking cognisance of the complaint, the Chief Minister’s Office has forwarded it to the departments concerned to initiate appropriate action.
When asked why the debris have not been cleared yet, an official from Shah Rukh Khan’s office who didn’t wish to be named said, “We will wait for the departments concerned to formally inform us and it’s only after that that we will take necessary action.”
Meanwhile, a BMC spokesperson clarified that in such a case, where the debris have fallen on the road, it is the responsibility of the owner of the house to clear it.
It can been be noted than on February 14, the BMC demolished a ramp which was illegally constructed by Shah Rukh Khan to park his vanity van right next to his bungalow on the same road, and has recovered Rs.1.93 lakh from the actor for the demolition and resurfacing of the road.
