Deadline extended for MU distance learning courses

Mumbai : The University of Mumbai’s Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) on Wednesday extended the deadline for online admissions for the academic year 2015 -2016. Students can now secure admission till September 30, 2015, after paying the late fees.

Dr Ambuja Salgaonkar, the director of IDOL, said: “After the previous deadline (September 15) we received several requests for admission. Considering their requests, we called a meeting in which we decided to extend the deadline till September 30, so that students more students can enrol.”

 The extended deadline is applicable for BA, BCom, BSc (computer science, nautical technology), MA, MCom, MA/MSc (Math), MSc (computer science and information technology), PGDFM and PGDORM courses. For these courses, students have to pay late fee. However, late fee is not applicable for BSc (IT) and MCA courses, officials said.

During the last academic year, 79,895 students had registered for various courses in IDOL. This year, 75,000 students have taken online admissions so far, of which 40,000 have applied for undergraduate courses and the remaining students have registered for postgraduate courses.
