Mumbai: Wednesday was a hot day for Mumbaikars, as the minimum and maximum temperature increased by one and three degrees Celsius respectively. According to an Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) official, easterly winds were causing the rise in temperatures. The night temperatures may decrease, but there will be no respite in day temperature as it will remain in between 33°C and 34°C causing discomfort to the residents of the country’s financial capital,” added the official.
The minimum temperatures witnessed a drop by over a degree from 19.6°C on Tuesday to 18°C on Wednesday. The minimum temperature recorded by IMD Santacruz observatory was 18°C, 3.7°C below normal, while the IMD Colaba observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 20.5°C.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperatures recorded by the IMD Colaba and the Santa Cruz observatories were above normal. The maximum recorded on Tuesday by IMD Colaba was 33.2°C, 3.7°C above normal, while the IMD Santa Cruz, it was 33.4°C, 3.5C above normal. “These are transitional changes and such fluctuations do take place and change in wind direction had caused the rise in temperatures,” said the weather forecaster.
