Only 47 community mandals used artificial ponds. The rest of the immersions took place at Gorai, Girgaum, Dadar and Worli Chowpatty.
The BMC had appointed life guards at these beaches along with 55 life boats at various spots. However, no mishap was reported.
The BMC had also set up nirmalya kalash at various spots along the chowpatty.
There are about 11,000 community Ganesh mandals in Mumbai, which will close the celebrations with immersion of idols on Sunday.
