Dawood’s aide held for getting MCA membership with forged documents

Mumbai: Anti Extortion Cell of Mumbai crime branch has arrested a close aide of D company, Riyaz Bhati, 45 arrested for allegedly forging documents of trustee of south Mumbai's college to get Mumbai Cricket Association's (MCA) membership. On college trustee's complaint AEC has arrested Bhati on Monday. According to the Wilson College's trustee, Bhati has allegedly forged his documents to get MCA's membership at BKC, which he was enjoying since 2015.

Officers of AEC said, "In 2013 Bhati's company has signed a contract with Wilson collage for using their premises for private events, since he was working with the college he was helping the college at various places, he even represented the college at MCA as a representative," " During such visits, Bhati came to know about the honorary membership of MCA for wilson college." added an officer. According to the AEC "After learning about this membership, Bhati applied for MCA's membership in 2015 through Wilson college and submitted recommendation from the college trustee with forged signature and the stamp."

Recently the college trustee shocked to learned about Bhati being got the membership on the recommendation of the college, after learning about the forged recommendation, trustee asked the MCA to cancel his membership. After the complaint, MCA requested the trustee to take the necessary action after which trustee approached the police. " After the trustee's complaint, documents were verified and after which FIR was lodged and on Monday we have arrested the Bhati from Versova." said an officer. Bhati was a close aid of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Chotaa Shaqeel, previously he was arrested in 2015 for keeping two passports, Immigration department had found two passport of different countries inside his baggage, after which he was arrested. Bhati has a series a cases registered against him, including of firing and arm's cases.
