According to civic official the total population of the city is around 15 lakh and 10 lakh citizens have already been tested for COVID 19. “We conducted the aggressively when number of cases were rising to trace the maximum number of people. This is also one of the reasons why new cases of COVID have come down,” said an official from civic health department.

The civic body set up its own testing lab for RtPCR test in Nerul hospital with a capacity to carry out upto 1000 tests per day. There was a time when the civic body conducted over 4000 tests per day including Antigen. The civic body also saved huge amount of money by setting up its own lab as it saved around Rs 1200 to Rs 1500 in per tests from market costs.
