Mumbai: Morning walkers on the Marine drive were shocked to find a man and a woman lying unconscious in Girgaum area on Friday morning. The identity of the couple is yet to be ascertained and looking at the circumstances it seems to be a suicide, said Marine Drive Police station officers. Around 5:30 in the morning, walkers spotted a man and a woman lying unconscious near Mafatlal Bath swimming pool, after which they alerted the police.
Immediately cops reached the spot and transported the couple to the GT hospital where both were declared dead. The police found 7 to 8 bottles of insecticides at the spot where the bodies were lying. According to the initial post mortem report they had consumed pesticides; no external injuries were visible. The man was around 45 to 50 year old and wearing a cream colour shirt while the woman was 35 to 40 years old and wearing a blue Punjabi dress and a red scarf, the officer said. The Marine Drive police have registered an Accidental Death Report andz are trying to establish the identity of the couple.
