Mumbai : The Mumbai crime branch officials conducted an exclusively available Voice Layered Analysis (VLA) test on the five accused arrested in the gang rape. The test which identifies difference in the tone at different stages of the accused interrogation is available only with the Gujarat lab in the country.
“First, the samples of the voice are taken during a normal and a casual interaction and next during a serious interrogation when the accused is being questioned about the crime. The standard ‘deviation’ is noted which points towards whether the accused is hiding something or possibly even lying. However, this is only a tool for the investigation and not as evidence in the court,” explained joint CP Himanshu Roy.
The accused were also taken to the JJ Hospital for a DNA test which will be matched with other samples collected from the spot to prove their involvement in the rape.
“All the accused will also be sent for bone ossification test to prove they are majors by age to guard against a latter possibility of them claiming minor in the court,” said a crime branch officer. A potency test was also conducted on Monday by the doctors.
The cops have also recovered clothes and undergarments of the accused from their residences from which DNA samples will be taken for forensic tests. Semen samples from their clothes and the victim will be matched to prove their involvement in the rape.
