Mumbai : No one would have thought that Aadhar card can be made without any documentation, but after the Charkop police raid it has come to light that two accused, who were running an e-seva kendra in Kandivali east who made them for just Rs 2,000.
The activity came to light when police sent a constable in civil clothes posing a customer. The officer approached the accused without any document. The accused demanded Rs 2,000 and gave him a receipt. Immediately, the Charkop police carried out a raid at the e-seva kendra at Bunder Pakhadi in Kandivali west from where they arrested Shivnaresh Gupta (22) and Raviprakash Gupta (20) and seized computers, scanners, printers, eye and thumb scanners along with some cash.
According to the police, the accused had acquired proper permission to make the Aadhar cards and used to promise to the people that Aadhar card would reach their residence within 20 days.
Police have arrested the accused under section 420, 464, 467, 468, 470 and 34 of the IPC.
“Around 500 people were visiting them on a daily basis to make the Aadhar cards. The accused used to charge them between Rs 1000 to Rs 2000,” said API Pradeep Raorane of Charkop police station.
