Mumbai : Three students from Nandurbar district, who had come to the city for nursing course at Cooper Medical College and Hospital, had complained about biased behavior and mental harassment by their professors in the month of July. Out of these, two students (Hiral Gavit and Ankita Gavit) have now been failed in two of the subjects taught by these professors, claim students.

Following this, Students Foundation of India (Mumbai district) has asked the college authorities for rechecking of their answer papers as students suspect foul play.

Currently, these students are in their third year but have been facing mental harassment for the past year. Seeing their worry and disturbed state, the students’ parents approached the psychiatric department of the hospital for counseling session on June 26.

Following this, the parents also approached the dean of the hospital Dr Ramesh Chaturvedi to probe the matter. In order to carry out the investigation, the dean had then formed a three-member committee; however, no action was taken against the professors.

The issue has once again come to limelight with the students claiming they have been deliberately failed by these professors. “We have spoken to the college authorities and discussed with them the problems faced by these students. We have been assured by the dean that a new committee will be set up to probe the matter and justice will be served to them,” said Kavita Ware, president of Students Foundation of India (Mumbai District).

Despite repeated attempts to contact the dean of the hospital, he was unavailable for comment.
