Mumbai : The State government again shuffled 20 IAS officers as a pre-election routine. This pre-poll shake-up also includes the transfer of controversial Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi, who took on politicians, primarily Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and other Nationalist Congress Party leaders. He has been sent to Pune to handle registration and stamp duty affairs.

In January too, the State government had drawn flak over Pardeshi’s transfer. Social organizations and citizens in large numbers came out on streets to protest the government action. Ajit Pawar was the main target of the people’s ire. According to Pawar, all the talks of political vendetta were rubbish and transfer of bureaucrats was only an administrative procedure.
Meanwhile, the minute Pardeshi was shunted out, the government declared that all illegal buildings within Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal area would be
legalised.
