Mumbai: After the Tiware dam breach, the ruling BJP and Shiv Sena Govt has been pushed on back foot. The saffron tieup, which had been accusing the NCP leader, Ajit Pawar, for alleged corruption in the construction of dams, have now fell flat with the Tiware tragedy in which 18 people died. The Oppn was quick to demand the resignation of water resources minister, Girish Mahajan who has admitted to mistakes by his dept.

Meanwhile, Sena neta Aaditya Thackeray cancelled a programme of a Youth Congress leader joining their party, which being insinuated as he wanted to shirk the Sena connection to the Tiware dam tragedy. It was a clear failure of the ruling BJP and Shiv Sena Govt, as despite numerous complaints by villagers for two years, the Govt failed to repair the dam. There were complaints of a big hole in the dam. Tiware dam was built during Shiv Sena-BJP Government in 1995 to 1999. Leader of Oppn and Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar held the Govt responsible for the deaths and said it was due to Govt’s apathy and negligence.
