Mumbai: The Congress on Monday said the results of the elections to the municipal corporations of Kalyan-Dombivali and Kolhapur and 75 nagar panchayats (municipal councils) in Maharashtra was a reflection of the Devendra Fadnavis-led government’s misrule of the last year.

Congress also indicated the possibility of an alliance with the NCP in Kolhapur. The Shiv Sena emerged as the biggest party in Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation while the Congress topped the table in Kolhapur.

Reacting to the results, state Congress chief Ashok Chavan said Fadnavis had made the KDMC elections a prestige issue and taken a keen interest in it, but still the BJP could not do well there.

About his own party’s dismal performance in KDMC, Chavan said the Thane district Congress was facing organisational problems for the last decade and a half.
