Woman robbed of Rs 1 lakh near bank
BHAYANDAR: A 46-year-old woman was robbed of Rs 1 lakh soon after she withdrew the amount from the Bhayandar (West) branch of Union Bank of India on Wednesday. According to the police, the incident was reported from the Balaji Nagar area at about 10 am when the victim, identified as Heena Mahendra Shah (46), a resident of Cabin Road, was on her way home after withdrawing money from the station road area of Bhayandar (West). A youth in his early twenties diverted Shah’s attention by pointing at some dirt on her clothes. When the woman began looking for the dirt on her dress at a nearby shop, the youth made off with the purse containing the cash.

Youth held for raping 15-yr-old neighbour

BHAYANDAR: The Valiv police have arrested a 25-year-old youth on charges of raping a five-year-old girl who stayed in his neighbourhood in the Dhaniv Baug area of Vasai (East). Identified as Raj Sharma (25), the accused rapist sneaked into the girl’s house and violated her when she was alone at home on Tuesday. After committing the shameful act, Sharma threatened the victim with dire consequences and asked her to remain silent. And in an attempt to create a fear psychosis, the accused tried to strangulate the girl when her elder brother came home and caught Sharma red-handed. After a sound thrashing Sharma was handed over to the Valiv police.

Fire incident: Case  against developer

MUMBAI: The Parksite police on Tuesday registered a case of negligence against the developer in connection with the fire that broke out in the seven-storey building on Monday. The cops have named D K Patel Developers as the accused and are trying to find out the persons from the firm who were responsible for the negligence. As per the complainants, the developer used inferior quality electrical equipment for wiring. The complainants have also alleged that the approach road was made very narrow due to which the fire brigade vehicles could not enter. The police have registered a case under various Indian Penal Code Sections.
