While political parties are gearing up for Maharashtra assembly elections, CIDCO's decision to release lottery result for 90,000 affordable houses is likely to have a big impact on the electorate of Mumbai.
According to DNA, CIDCO is all set to release the lottery results around the same time when state assembly elections are scheduled to be held in September-October this year. The opposition has started slamming the BJP-led government and has termed the decision as nothing but a political gimmickry aimed at garnering votes. Bhalchandra Shirsat, BJP spokesperson told the leading, “House is very dear to everyone and it is a dream to own the house in Mumbai and its peripheral locations. Therefore, the 90,000 mega housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will have a positive impact on the incumbent government.”
On the other hand, Mahendra Gharat, the Congress leader from Navi Mumbai, has slammed the BJP-led government. “This is nothing but political gimmicks. If you see the history of the CIDCO, it was the Congress party that first created the housing authority for Navi Mumbai’s planned development and provided affordable houses. However, instead of marketing, we genuinely worked for people and we continue to do the same,” Gharat told the leading daily.
