Churchgate-like mishap averted by AWS activation

Mumbai : The motorman of Kasara-CST bound fast train applied emergency brakes and averted the train from ramming into the protective buffers at the platform. Following which, the train halted before its usual halt at CST platform owing to the activation of Automatic Wiring System (AWS).

The train reached CST station at Platform No 6 around 12.28 pm and got halted before its usual emergency halt.

Sources said that the Kasara-CST bound fast train which was scheduled at 10.10 am on Wednesday morning was already running 1015 minutes late from its scheduled time-table.

The train which reached the platform 6 of CST station at 12.25, the train halted before its usual halt after the AWS was activated at a distance of 30 meters from the station. AWS is activated only when the train is running at a higher speed than its usual 10kmph.

Sources further said that the speed of the train was running at a high speed from the beginning. However, despite of repeated attempts, the officials from central railway refused to comment on the matter.
