Mumbai: The BJP is most likely to go for assembly elections under the leadership of current state President Raosaheb Danve. Though as per media reports there is a change of leadership in the BJP, the sources has made it clear that Danve may continue till the elections are over. "There is no talks on the possibility of changing party president.
It is only in certain media reports,” senior BJP leader, who too worked as Party President told the Free Press Journal. As the elections are just three months ahead, it will not be advisable and practical for a party to change the leadership, he added.
He also hinted that as Amit Shah too is continuing as national President despite being the Union Home Minister, Danve too expected to continue. Meanwhile, Revenue and Public Works Department minister Chandrakant Patil speaking from Kolhapur has shown readiness to work as Party State President if offered by party high-command.
“I am always open to this offer if the party asks me,’’ said Patil, the second strongest leader in the state cabinet. He is well known for his close relationship with BJP Party President Amit Shah.
Patil’s statement has sparked the discussion on change of leadership in state BJP. As Patil is from Western Maharashtra and belongs to Maratha community, he is considered as a strong contender for the post. But since he is heading the cabinet sub-committees for Maratha reservation loan waiver, he may not be shifted to other party works.
