Mumbai; The Central Railway has written a letter to the commissioner of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) asking them to take necessary steps for closure of the Dombivli ROB for road traffic, besides making alternate arrangement for the diversion of traffic. This comes after the IIT-Bombay submitted a report stating bridge should be closed until it undergoes repairs. “As per recommendation of IIT Bombay the bridge should be closed till rehabilitation.
To safeguard road users as well as railway passengers, it is necessary to follow guidelines given by IIT-Bombay,” reads CR’s letter to KDMC. KDMC will bare the cost of the repair, though railway is going to repair the ROB. As the bridge is crucial east-west link for densely populated city, it likely to add to the traffic woes of the city and troubles of the citizens.
