Central excise inspector robbed

MUMBAI: A central excise inspector, Arun Bansode, 43, was allegedly assaulted and his belongings stolen from Nahur railway station late on Wednesday around 11.30pm. “Bansode was on his way to his Airoli home after a party,” said Shripad Kale, senior inspector, Bhandup police station.

Bansode was walking on the road next to platform number one when he was stopped by four unidentified men. They assaulted him, threatened him with a knife, and escaped with a smartphone, Rs 4,000 cash, driving licence and his identity card  issued by the central excise department. The total stolen goods are worth Rs 14,000, police said.
